The
Gurian Institute, co-founded by Michael Gurian, is a training
organization focused on providing schools, homes, workplaces, and
community agencies with crucial understanding of how boys and girls
learn and grow, and women and men work and lead. Institute
trainings in all settings--schools, workplaces, parenting seminars, and
social services modalities--blend brain-based theory with practical
application and cultural relevance. The ultimate mission of the
Institute is to help all dynamic environments better serve the
individual needs of both genders.

"I
work as a Senior Outreach Specialist at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. I have been a professional trainer for my
department (Professional Development and Applied Studies) in the
division of Continuing Studies for 11 years…. I started making THE
WONDER OF BOYS required reading when teaching core AODA summer
institute classes...It’s exciting to bring together the research on
brain based gender differences, the neuroscience of addiction and brain
development in adolescents and to how this translates into
behavior! The teachers and counselors love it."

"I
intend to put THE SOUL OF THE CHILD on my reading list as soon as my
term
ends on January 13th."
— John A. Kitzhaber, M.D., Governor
of Oregon (Retired)

"Michael
Gurian had the courage to talk about boys before it was popular.
His new book, THE MINDS OF BOYS, written with educator Kathy Stevens,
takes this work further. It articulates the issues from a
brain-based approach, with supporting research. It then gives
very practical examples for interventions. I highly recommend
this book to anyone who works with boys professionally or
personally. I found the book to be extraordinarily helpful."
